CHARITY IN THE 21st CENTURY
To celebrate the imminent CD release of the bands new EP titled “In The 21st Century”, STATE OF GRACE are delighted to announce that all profits from the digital download of the EP will go to an International Children’s Charity.

In contrast to various charity events organised by major record labels and big television corporations where a “proportion” of profits is given to the charity, STATE OF GRACE will donate 100% of profits from the download of the EP directly to their chosen charity.
This means that for every £1.50 spent downloading the EP, ninety three pence will go to the charity. This is the total profit paid to the band after VAT and Indiestore expenses are deducted.

Guitarist Andy Parker explained: “The song “In The 21st Century” reflects on the negative issues that we see going on in the world today and we as a band want to do something positive.” he continued: “From our point of view, the EP has been recorded and the tracks are stored digitally by Indiestore. There are no further costs in this digital format, so if ten or ten thousand people download the EP, the band have no further production and manufacturing costs. So let’s do something positive with this money and give it to a charity that does invaluable work in improving the future for children whose lives could and should be better.”

I asked Andy if he was worried that some people may see this generosity as just a tool for creating publicity for the band.

“Of course it is a concern” he stated, “but when you look at charity events in the past, it’s always been a double edged sword of good intention and self promotion. Certain bands careers really took off on a worldwide level after LIVE AID and the recent LIVE 8 concerts, and I’m sure none of these bands would deny that they benefited as a direct result of their performances in the name of charity. On the other hand, the money and awareness that they helped raise was immense."
He added: "You try and do something with the best intentions at heart, but there will always be the cynics. We want to do something that counteracts the frustrations we have in the 21st century, and this is why we’ve decided to donate all of our profit directly to the charity.” “It’s funny because the reason we cannot name our chosen charity until we have made the donation is what is termed “cause-related marketing”. The irony is if we were an established signed band, we would be able to name the charity and put their logo on our website. There is a huge household brand advertising their product in conjunction with this charity that are actually donating a tiny amount of their profit to the cause whilst displaying the charities logo prominently on their packaging and increasing their sales. It's very frustrating but the cause stays the same and the money goes to the children who really need it. In spite of these restrictions, we are determined to raise as much money as we possibly can.”
